Hino Motors Manufacturing (Thailand) Ltd., one of Toyota’s group companies, carries out 

the foundation stone laying ceremony for new development and production base “Suvarnabhumi Monozukuri Center.”

Hino Motors Manufacturing (Thailand) Ltd. (HMMT) which is one of Toyota’s group companies held the official foundation stone laying ceremony for starting construction of manufacturing and development center for trucks and buses in ASEAN on July 26, 2019. This center, with an area of 400,000 square meters (250 Rai), will be located at the Asia Industrial Estate Suvarnabhumi, Bang bo district, Samutprakarn Province. On this auspicious occasion, the company is honored to have Mr.Apichin Jotikasthira - Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry as the guest of  honor of the ceremony, and welcomed Mr. Ninnart Chaithirapinyo - Chairman of Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd., Mr. Makoto Minagawa - Senior Managing Officer, Hino Motors, Ltd., Mr. Tetsuya Daikoku – Managing Officer, Mitsui & Co., Ltd, and other distinguished guests from government  agencies, as well as top management from Toyota and Hino group companies to the ceremony.

This center comprises of product planning, R&D, and manufacturing offices, integrated with a test course and an operation base, worth of 3,560 million THB, and is expected to start operation by 2021. With the center, HMMT aims to meet the needs of customers in Thailand and develop and  offer the most ‘best-fit’ products which exceed customers’ expectation in ASEAN, as well as in other countries by 2024. This will allow HMMT to  contribute to Thailand with its investments and exports as well as a transfer of technology, specialized skill, and enhanced employment in areas  such as research and design etc.   

Speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony, Mr. Somchai Pleankaew, President of Hino  Motors Manufacturing (Thailand) Ltd., said, 

“In the next 2 years, after our first-in-ASEAN production and development center starts operation, Hino will not merely be a domestic manufacturer of trucks and buses but will position Thailand as an important development and production base for the ASEAN region and beyond. The center will comprise of a model factory with the newest technologies, integrated with the development office and a test course. Our goal is to develop and produce the ‘best fit’ products for our customers both in Thailand and ASEAN in a timely manner. This new center will offer a safe and environmentally friendly workplace, of which our team members love and are proud of. Moreover, we will collaborate with Toyota and Hino groups in ASEAN to enhance each company’s competitiveness further support the development of the industries and economy in Thailand and the ASEAN region.”
